A Little About Me
Education & Training
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP) in the state of Tennessee. As an undergraduate, I studied Psychology at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN where I received my bachelor degree in Psychology in 2017. Studying the “why” of an individual’s thoughts, behaviors, and desires led me wanting to understand and help others get to the root of their pain more; therefore, I continued my education earning my graduate degree in clinical and mental health counseling at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN in 2019. While at Lipscomb, I completed my counseling internships at Lipscomb’s University Counseling Center and Neighborhood Health Clinic in East Nashville in 2018-2019. From there, I went on to work in multiple clinical settings and finding a new passion for the healing work I do with others.
Clinical Experience
I have experience working in the clinical setting with adult individuals and couples. I began working as a crisis counselor after graduating in 2019 but worked in the crisis field as a resident counselor, facilitating group therapy before this. I transitioned to clinical counseling, seeing individuals and couples, in 2022 and have loved it since. My work has been with those who are struggling with any form of trauma, anxiety and mood disorders, attachment issues, emotional wounds, addiction, self-worth issues, and adult children of dysfunctional family systems. I am a trained EMDR therapist and am continuing my training to become fully certified.
Clinical Interests
I work with adults in individual and couples sessions. I enjoy working with those struggling with relational and attachment issues, trauma, addiction, self-worth, history of family dysfunction, and many other interpersonal difficulties. I am specifically drawn to attachment-focused sessions that dive into clients' personal and relational histories exploring ways to change maladaptive patterns. There is nothing more encouraging to see those I work with healing from and breaking negative cycles and generational patterns. I am also extremely passionate about working with those who have experienced trauma of any kind. My belief is that a person can heal from the wounds they have suffered and move forward with a life built of purpose and connection. EMDR is a tool I have found helpful working with those who have experienced traumas or hold negative beliefs about themselves. Some other clinical interests include anxiety and mood disorders, spirituality and faith, grief, and life transitions.
Other Interests
When I am not in the therapy office, I enjoy spending time with my husband connecting through cooking, playing with our dog (pictured on this page), or watching our favorite shows. Being in the outdoors (walking, hiking, or front porch sitting) is one of my most enjoyable hobbies. I am a firm believer we cannot do life alone, so I love connecting with my friends and family by spending time, having game and movie nights, and going on trips with them. When I am not doing one of the things listed above, you can find me getting involved with one of my interest of the week - whether this be cooking, psychology and spirituality studies, photography, art, etc.
